Glengarry (1997) marked an important step in Hadrian’s Wall’s evolution, combining traditional Scottish and Irish music with an increasing focus on original songwriting. Building on the success of the band’s debut album, Glengarry introduced several original compositions by Neil Emberg and Richard Irwin while continuing to celebrate the traditional music that inspired the band.

Recorded at Concept Audio in Kingston, Ontario, the album features energetic arrangements, spirited instrumentals and memorable sing-along favourites that became staples of Hadrian’s Wall’s live performances throughout North America. Original songs including “The Jolly Piper,” “Crazy Dog,” “The North Sea,” and “Glengarry Highland Hip-Hop” sit comfortably alongside traditional classics, reflecting the band’s growing confidence as songwriters and performers.

With contributions from guest musicians Bruce Blaney, Kaley Mason and Scott Donnelly, Glengarry helped establish the sound that would define Hadrian’s Wall for years to come and remains one of the band’s most recognizable early recordings.
