Live (2001) captures Hadrian’s Wall at its best in front of a hometown audience during a memorable concert in Glengarry County, Ontario. Recorded live in Maxville in August 2001, the album preserves the energy, humour and audience interaction that became hallmarks of the band’s performances at Highland Games, Celtic festivals and concert halls across North America.

Featuring a mix of spirited traditional favourites, original songs and driving instrumental medleys, Live showcases the spontaneity and musicianship that earned Hadrian’s Wall a loyal following. From audience sing-alongs to lively dance tunes, the recording delivers the authentic experience of a Hadrian’s Wall concert.

The album concludes with a special performance of “Barrett’s Privateers,” featuring a surprise guest appearance by Canadian Celtic music legend John Allan Cameron. His appearance on stage created one of the most memorable moments in the band’s history, making Live not only a snapshot of an unforgettable evening but also an important document of Hadrian’s Wall’s early years.

About

Live

Released in 2001, Live captures Hadrian’s Wall exactly as audiences experienced the band during its early years. Recorded live at the Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville, Ontario, the album preserves the energy, humour and musicianship that helped establish Hadrian’s Wall as a favourite on festival stages throughout Canada and the United States.

Rather than recreating the songs in a studio, Live celebrates the excitement of a real performance, where audience participation, spontaneous moments and the connection between band and crowd became defining parts of every show. The recording reflects the band’s growing reputation for combining traditional Scottish and Irish music with original songs, storytelling and contemporary Celtic arrangements.

Recorded on August 3, 2001, the album serves as a snapshot of Hadrian’s Wall during an important period in its history. It captures the chemistry of the lineup while documenting the atmosphere of one of the band’s hometown Highland Games—an event that has remained closely connected to Hadrian’s Wall throughout its career.

More than two decades later, Live continues to preserve the spirit of those performances and stands as an authentic record of the band’s early years on stage.
