About Play Us a Tune

Released in 2024, Play Us a Tune captures Hadrian’s Wall at a new stage in its musical journey. Built around ten original songs written by Neil Emberg, the album blends contemporary Celtic, folk and roots influences while remaining firmly connected to the band’s Scottish heritage and Canadian identity.

Recorded with longtime collaborators and an outstanding group of guest musicians from Canada and the United States, the album reflects nearly three decades of songwriting, touring and performing at festivals, theatres and Highland Games across North America. Each song tells a different story, from the friendships and places that have shaped the band’s journey to the landscapes, traditions and memorable characters that continue to inspire its music.

The album combines energetic Celtic-inspired arrangements with thoughtful acoustic performances, creating a collection that is equally at home on a festival stage, a long road trip or a quiet evening at home. Songs such as “Glengarry to Maidstone,” “Sandals in the Snow,” “There’s Magic in the Music,” and “Gingerbread Town” highlight the band’s signature blend of storytelling, musicianship and contemporary Celtic sound.

Mixed by Neil Emberg and mastered by Padraig Buttner-Schnirer, Play Us a Tune represents another milestone in Hadrian’s Wall’s continuing evolution while staying true to the sound that audiences have enjoyed since 1995.
